Florida State Vs. Clemson: Seminoles Crushed By Tigers In ACC Opener

For the second year in a row, the Florida State Seminoles (9-5) and Clemson Tigers (8-6) will begin Atlantic Coast Conference play matching up against against one another. The Seminoles won the 2011 opener 75-69 in Tallahassee.

Both teams are coming off impressive victories. Florida State dropped 50 points in the first half Wednesday against Auburn, eventually drubbing the Tigers by a final of 85-56. Clemson defeated East Tennessee State 65-58 last Sunday, the Tigers' fourth win in five games.

Florida State holds a 30-27 advantage in the rivalry, but the Tigers have won three of the past four meetings. In the Seminoles last 10 trips to Littlejohn Coliseum, the Seminoles have emerged victorious just once.

If either team wants to make the NCAA tournament, the resume building begins here, with the start of conference play. Both teams currently have a lot of work to do, but coaches Leonard Hamilton of Florida State and Brad Brownell of Clemson were in the Dance last year and know how to get a team to the proverbial promised land.
